Travelling to Graz

Graz can be reached by plane, train, bus, or car.

Graz Hauptbahnhof is one of Austria’s major railway stations. It is located near the city centre, which can be reached in only a few minutes by public transport. There are direct trains from Vienna, Salzburg, Linz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, and several European cities. If you travel by train from Vienna to Graz, book a seat on the left side of the train to have a better view on the scenic landscape in the Semmering area.

For reduced train tickets, click on the link below (TAN-Code: H4JUEB). You will then be able to register as a new customer using your e-mail address and book your journey to Graz in a relaxed manner. Please note that each person has to create a new ÖBB account specifically for this conference. It is not possible to use an existing ÖBB account as each e-mail address can only be used once in the ÖBB booking system.

Registering entitles you to a 22% congress discount on the ÖBB standard fare, 10% off the international standard fare, and a special price for the ÖBB Nightjet when making your booking. Only travels to/from Graz within +/- 3 days of EANA’24 will be valid for the discount. Booking is possible from March 2024 on. Your customer account for the congress will be automatically deleted after the event and therefore after your return journey.

Graz has a small airport (Graz Thalerhof Airport (GRZ)) south of the city. Please visit the following website to check the current flight plan
https://www.flughafen-graz.at/en/flight/flight-and-travel-info/destinations.html
Alternatively, the airports of Vienna (recommended, 2.5h train ride), Klagenfurt (2.5 3h train/bus ride), Bratislava, Zagreb, and Ljubljana (all three approx. 4.5h train/bus ride) are relatively close to Graz.

Long-distance coaches are a popular and cost-efficient way of travelling to Graz. There are connections to and from many cities in Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia. See https://global.flixbus.com/ and https://at.eurolines.com/en/home/ for further information.

Many roads lead to Graz. From the north and south, the city can be reached via the A9 motorway. Coming from the west (or from Vienna), you can take the A2 motorway. Once you have reached Graz, you can either take exit Graz-Nord, Graz-West or Graz-Ost. Be aware that you need a toll sticker ("Vignette") when using Austrian motorways and expressways.
