AbGradE Symposium 2018
The third AbGradE symposium, 22-24 September 2018 in Berlin, Germany
AbGradE organised its third symposium in Berlin at the Free University Berlin. The time and place were perfect this year as two other planetary science and astrobiology conferences also took place in Berlin, with EPSC at the Technical University Berlin the week before (16-21 September), and EANA starting right after our symposium at the Free University Berlin (24-28 September). The 2018 symposium was the biggest AbGradE event so far with 64 attendees and 5 keynote speakers. Early-career scientists (Bachelor, Master, PhD students, and Post-doc) from 23 different countries had the chance to get a taste of the scientific world and to present their work in front of a familiar audience with 19 contributed talks and 26 posters. This year, we asked our keynote speakers to adjust their talks according to the attendee’s abstracts and structured the different sessions around the abstracts submitted. It was very successful in providing a broader and more general introduction to the themes touched by the attendees. Of course, to maximise once again networking, there was some great accompanying social events: and ice breaker, a sightseeing tour and a conference dinner. Thanks to our sponsors and partners, we were able to maintain a low attendance fee (35€) and provide travel grants to everybody who applied for one (most of the time in addition to EANA's).
